ShutterStock is an inexpensive, subscription service that offers over 450,000 above average images. This service is a great choice for designers who need regular royalty free downloads with flexible licensing terms.

Feature Set:  

ShutterStock offers several subscription plans, their one-month plan cost $139 and enables designers to download up to 750 royalty free images per month. They offer a license that supports image use for web sites, magazines, newspapers, brochures, book covers and many other uses. However, you may not use their images for trademarked items, logos or templates for sale.

They offer several sizes including, small, medium, large and super sized at 4000 X 3000 pixels.

Search/Sort Options:  

Through ShutterStock, you can search by keyword, exact color, orientation and image type. Their theme searches such as 'frustration' produced applicable results and their exact color search is extremely useful.

Quality:  

For a subscription service, ShutterStock offers images of above standard quality. Many royalty free subscription services sacrifice quality for quantity, this is not the case with ShutterStock.

Selection:  

Although they only offer about half a millions images, they offer a good variety including some illustrations, vector images, photo objects, clip art and a limited collection of editorial type photos.

Summary:  

ShutterStock offers a good selection of quality images for a moderate subscription price.
