Index Stock Imagery Inc. offers photography, illustrations and digital images that are available either royalty free or as licensed stock photography. It is the parent company of Photos To Go and supports two subscription services through IndexOpen and WebSpice.
Through its subscription programs and Photos To Go it offers a wide variety of products with a range of resolutions available. They offer a lightbox for members and reasonably priced CD collections.
They are a bit on the pricey side, for example, a royalty free image of a kitty at low resolution (1105px x 737px, 2MB) quoted at $79 and a high resolution (5115px x 3411px, 52MB) at $289. Non-exclusive North American rights to a kitty picture for a calendar with a distribution of 10,000 came to $935.00 or for a greeting card $450.00 for one year.
However, if you go through IndexOpen, their royalty free subscription program you can download up to 25 pictures per day for $199 per month. They offer 'multi-seat' licenses as well, if you need a subscription for more than one user.
Through WebSpice you can gain access to over 2 million clip art images and unlimited downloads for $19/month. This service also offers over 35,000 animated images, some photos and 2,000 themes for Microsoft Office and Front Page.
On their Index Stock Imagery site, they offer some good search options including search by keyword, orientation, theme and release status. You can also narrow your search down by selecting or unselecting keywords.
For the price, the quality could be better. We found many photos in which the color appeared washed out or looked like amateur work.
They offer just about everything you could want including, objects, illustrations, CD collections, images, clip art and short animations. However, they do not offer video, commissioned work, pre-masked objects or vector images.
Index Stock Imager offers some affordable subscription options, however their quality and selection does not surpass some of the higher ranked products. For example PunchStock and Jupiter Images offer better quality for about the same price.
