Adobe users around the planet, check out Adobe Systems Incorporated’s stock photography service. This service is compatible with many adobe applications, offers instant downloads, comped images and wins our "TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award."

Adobe has set up partnerships with some of the worlds best stock image providers including Creatas, Comstock, Brand X, Amana, Photodisc and Thinkstock. This service is a convenient choice for international designers, as images are available in 27 countries, prices can be calculated in four currencies and Adobe supports keyword searches in 14 different languages.

Adobe Stock Photos offers some functional and time saving media tools to those that use adobe programs; however, it just can’t beat the massive collection of images or the application flexibility provided by Getty and Jupiter Images.

Feature Set:  

Adobe Stock Photos provides royalty free images, compatible with Adobe Creative Suite 2, photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, GoLive CS2 through ‘Adobe Bridge.’ With Adobe Bridge, designers have the ability to preview multi-page Adobe Portable Document Format files, drag and drop from floating Compact Mode windows, process images with integrated Camera Raw 3.0, edit and search for Adobe XMP metadata and monitor assets managed in Version Cue CS2.

Adobe does not offer a subscription program, but their price per image is reasonable, ranging from $50 USD for a low resolution to no more than $499 USD for high resolution downloads.

Through Adobe Bridge, you can download watermark free comp images to incorporate into your design ideas before purchasing the image at a higher resolution.

As mentioned above they can support many languages including keyword searches in Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese (traditional and simplified), Dutch, English, German, Japanese and Spanish. They can also conduct cost calculations using the €EURO, £GBP, $USD and the ¥JYEN.

Although Adobe offers some useful tools for its members, it is not compatible with other software and can’t be used for versions prior to Adobe Creative Suite 2.

Search/Sort Options:  

Adobe does not supply its own images; all art is supplied through their image providers and with their respective search tools. Since they have access to some of the best collections, they also have access to some of the best search options. Adobe Stock Photo supports searches by theme, concept, keyword, photographer, collection, color word and orientation.

Quality:  

Adobe Stock Photo provides its members with access to many of the Jupiter and the Getty Images stock collections. This includes access to powerful, influential images from the Image Source and elegant, crisp photos from Stockbyte.

Selection:  

Adobe Stock Photos provides access to over 450,000 photos and illustrations from some of the world's leading stock image sources. They also provide some object photos as well as vector images. Adobe also supports referrals to assignment photographers through their providers and some photojournalism and editorial images.

Although they make available many premier collections, this service does not give you access to millions of images, nor does it provide you with images for medical use or of famous people collections.

Summary:  

Adobe Stock Photo is a timesaving and economical option for Adobe Creative Suite 2 users. However, if you are not an adobe user, see Getty or Jupiter Images, our #1 and #2 choice for high quality stock images.
